Dr Mahamudu Bawumia
The very loud minority backing a John Mahama return to power and their allies have nothing concrete to point to that future and what a National Democratic Congress (NDC) government will do to address the country’s challenges.
We are certain that the people will use their massive votes to endorse the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy by their endorsement of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on Saturday.
John Mahama, his NDC and some Ghanaians who think like him and with the support of some pastors who have become merchants of God and political forecasters have predicted win for the Umbrella Family.
They have however, resorted to propaganda and misinformation to mislead Ghanaians to vote for the scary alternative, John Mahama, on Saturday, and that is why the NDC apparatchiks are all over social media claiming they have won the special voting, when the Electoral Commission (EC) has made it clear the special voting will not be counted until after the general exercise on Saturday.
If the NDC does not know, we are telling them that Ghanaians are very discerning now and the electorate will not fall for the party’s lies. With few days to the polls, the NDC that claims it is cruising to victory has also decided to be putting out fake news about thumb-printed ballot papers to prepare the minds of their gullible supporters that in the likely event of a third consecutive defeat of the perennial presidential candidate, John Mahama, on Saturday, they can tell their supporters that the elections were rigged.
The time is here for Ghanaians to determine their destiny, and that is why the electorate is called upon to reject those bent on “resetting” the country backwards. We mince no words in reminding the people about the reason why Mahamudu Bawumia is the choice.
He represents peace and unity as against the NDC leader who misses no opportunity to run down those who are opposed to his views. Although an intellectual, John Mahama lacks the capacity for any debate, falling short of Voltaire’s dictum that “I may detest your views but I will not prevent you from expressing them.”
That is why John Mahama as president will respond to his opponents as baloney, say he is not a magician to create jobs and tell Ashantis that “even if I build your roads with gold, you will not even appreciate it”. Unfortunately, while John Mahama has not been able to articulate any vision, he is being goaded on by men of God like Opambuor and Owusu Bempah, who have abandoned their divine mission to become political forecasters.
We know in terms of pedigree, John Mahama is no match for Mahamudu Bawumia, but all the same we remind the electorate to remember just the Free SHS policy as they take a trip to the polling booth to cast their ballot.
We must safeguard the Free SHS, the only policy in Ghana that equalises the rich and the poor. We should not give the opportunity to those who are dazed about the Free SHS.
Although the NDC opposed the policy and called it a disaster and destined to collapse our education system, today, John Mahama is out there proposing all kinds of measures to review and improve a policy his NDC kicked against.
Now that the NDC has realised that the Free SHS has become popular with the people, they want to swim in the glory, telling the people the Free SHS has come to stay.
