Behave Like A Stateman – ER NPP To Mahama

John Mahama

The Eastern Region New Patriotic Party (NPP) has advised the former President and the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, to stop the ‘insults’ on his political opponents and behave like a “Statesman” so that he can justify the huge monthly salaries that are paid to him by the government as an ex-President.

The Regional Communications Director of the party, David Prah, in a statement on behalf of the party, expressed his dissatisfaction at the rate at which the former President had been “insulting” and “denigrating” his political opponents and government officials, with the most recent one being the insults on the Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu.

Mr. Prah said they were at a loss as to why Mr. Mahama would only resort to insults instead of discussing policy alternative on political platforms.

“It takes an empty barrel to make the most noise and that Mr. Mahama is insulting his political opponents because he lacks ideas on governance and has nothing good for Ghanaians.  No wonder he ruled Ghana with utmost recklessness and impunity, hence his gross display of incompetence in all sectors of the economy,” he said.

According to him, the erstwhile Mahama NDC administration “remains the worst in the history of Ghana that subjected Ghanaians to unforgettable ‘Dumsor’, GYEEDA scandal, SADA thievery, WAYOMI saga, bus branding cash, NCA spy machine scandal,  collapse of industries, mass youth/graduate unemployment, inflated project cost, insults on chiefs, traditional and religious authorities, distribution of head-pans to ‘kayayies’ policy, etc.”

Mr. Prah appealed to the public to continue to support the Akufo-Addo government “to continue to give us good governance in these crucial times of Covid-19.”

He said that currently 216 school blocks and dormitories and 80 teachers’ bungalows were under construction; the university in the Eastern Region at Somanya had been completed; the Eastern Regional Hospital was commencing; a multipurpose Sports Complex at Koforidua and 13 District Hospitals were under construction in the region, all under the NPP government.

He also mentioned the Mpakadan rail network development, Kpong GS Retrofit Project and several road networks under construction, 23 1D1F being assisted for full operations and employment with about 120,000 direct and indirect jobs and over 7,000 NABCO employees all happening in the region.

He said Mr. Mahama while touring the region had seen for himself that the NPP was making inroads and was therefore using insults and propaganda to hoodwink the public, but said the NPP was determined to pursue issues not insults to win the election.
