Blame Bad Selection For Ghana’s Loss’

Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu

Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, has blamed mistakes in team selection for Ghana’s defeat to Uruguay at the Al Janoub Stadium in Al Wakrah last Friday.

According to him, Uruguay is not a team Ghana should have lost to, adding that the development should also be an end for the Ayew brothers.

“Good… not too good evening… Uruguay is not a team Ghana should have lost to. Bad selection… an end to the Ayew brothers in the Black Stars… a new era begins…we shall overcome,” he said in a statement after the match.

Dede Penalty Miss

Meanwhile, Black Stars captain, Andre Ayew, has defended his penalty miss against Uruguay, leading to Ghana’s exit at the FIFA World Cup.

To students of the game, the dynamics of the game would have changed, if Dede had converted from the spot after Mohammed Kudus was fouled in the box.

The penalty miss, coupled with the painful 0-2 loss suffered at the hands of Ghana’s bitterest rival, Uruguay, ensured the Black Stars’ exit from the

tournament in Qatar.

But Dede, in a social media post, stated, “God gives His most difficult battles to those who can fight it.”

He has three goals for Ghana in three World Cups, having scored one of Ghana’s three goals against South Korea in their second Group H game.

His penalty miss incident has since stoked intense debate among the lay and students of the game alike.

The Qatar 2022 debacle is Ghana’s second to qualify from the preliminary stages since Brazil 2014.
