Borak Plus Technology Limited, distributors of Borak Plus anti-malaria bulb in the country, has debunked rumours that the product is injurious to human health.
According to the company, the product has undergone testing and approval of the Ghana Standard Authority (GSA) in 2012, 2013 and 2016 which makes the product safe for use.
There is a recording circulating in the social media that the Borak Plus anti-malaria bulb is harmful to human health, discouraging Ghanaians from patronizing the product.
However, at a press conference in Accra yesterday, Rakia Tanko, Director and Head of Marketing, Borak Plus Technology Limited, said its anti-malaria bulb is not harmful to health as being speculated, adding, “It is safe, reliable and environmentally friendly without noise. It is not poisonous, non-toxic and non-radiational.”
She said there had been no complaints of the bulb causing harm to its users since it was launched in Ghana in May 2012 by the Ministry of Health, under the auspices of the late President John Evans Atta Mills.
Ms Tanko noted that since then, the product has been on the market.
The products are genuine and the company has a test report from the Standard Authority, she said, adding that the rumours making the rounds were just a calculated attempt by some people to collapse the company.
“I want to stress that the Borak Plus anti-mosquito bulb is technologically proven and accepted worldwide and it operates on frequency waves just like a radio or television and not on radiation which is harmful to humans,” Ms Tanko disclosed.
She explained that the bulb has about 8,000 hours lifespan which makes it more economical and preferable on the Ghanaian market, adding “It can be used both indoor and outdoor.
“This product is designed to repel mosquitoes and insects as far as the bulb light can emit; and works against mosquitoes’ biological features. The light spectrum from lamps makes mosquitoes uncomfortable.”
Product Benefits
She said the “anti-mosquito bulb gives you light, saves you energy up to 80 percent and also repels mosquitoes from your rooms. So you can save more money and also be free from malaria which is caused by mosquitoes.”
Ms Tanko appealed to the public, especially those who have bought the product over the years, to come out to state whether they have experienced any side effects since they started using the product.
