Boy, 16, Shot Dead After Eid-Adha Prayers

A SIXTEEN year-old boy has allegedly been shot dead and one other is severely injured following a gunshot incident in Kumasi yesterday.

The duo were said to have been hit by stray bullets, reportedly, fired by some Zongo youth, right after Eid-Adha prayers session at Aboabo Number 2.

The body of the deceased, identified as Abdul-Gafar Kassim, has since been deposited in a morgue by the police for preservation and autopsy.

The injured person, whose identity was not immediately known, is said to be responding to treatment in a medical facility.

Eye witnesses disclosed that no arrest had been made yet, but the security agents in Kumasi were doing everything possible in order to arrest the suspects.

The Assemblyman for Aboabo Number 2, Yussif Iddrisu, confirming the report, said the youth were brandishing short guns right after the Eid-Adha prayers.

According to him, suddenly, the trigger-happy Zongo youth started to fire series of gunshots, causing fear and panic among the people around.

Yussif Iddrisu said two boys, including Abdul-Gafar Kassim, were unfortunately hit by stray bullets, which resulted in the death of Kassim.
