British Envoy Storms K’si Over Prince Charles’ Visit

THE BRITISH High Commissioner to Ghana, Iain Walker, has journeyed from Accra to Kumasi, where he has thoroughly briefed journalists about the upcoming visit to the city by His Royal Highness, Prince Charles.

According to him, Prince Charles knows the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II very well hence it is appropriate that he (Prince) travels to Kumasi to interact with Otumfuo and chiefs in the Ashanti Region.

He also described the Ashanti Region as a strategic region in terms of business and farming activities, stressing that Prince Charles, who is visiting the country early November, would engage in many activities.

 

Visits Cocoa Farm

According to the British Envoy, Prince Charles would take time out of his one-day stay in the Ashanti Region to visit some selected cocoa farms in order for him to experience how the cash crop is grown and cultivated by farmers.

“Prince Charles, has over the years, displayed that he has deep interest in cocoa sustainability, therefore he (Prince) would visit some cocoa farms in the Ashanti Region to personally have a feel of how the crop is grown and cultivated,” he disclosed.

 

Visit To KNUST

Iain Walker announced that Prince Charles, who is passionate about the growth of education in the country, would visit the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi.

He stated that the Prince would focus on what Ghana and the United Kingdom can do collectively in order to pave way for rapid and effective educational growth in the two countries to the mutual benefits of their people.

 

Visit Benefits

According to Iain Walker, Prince Charles’ visit would help bring several benefits in the areas of job creation, creating opportunities and investment opportunities for the mutual benefits of the people of Ghana and the UK.

He also indicated that the visit would help deepen the cordial relationship that had existed between the people of Ghana and the UK over the years, saying “I am thrilled about Prince Charles’ visit to Ghana”.

The meeting between the British Envoy and journalists in Kumasi was graced by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah and Osei Assibey Antwi, the Kumasi Mayor.
