Businessmen Make Proposals To Gov’t

Vice President Dr. Bawumia

Government is likely to introduce new policies that will help improve local businesses to accrue more profit.

The policies, numbering about six, are all proposals from businessmen in the Ashanti Region which could be introduced soon.

The policies were proposed by the leadership of Ashanti Regional businessmen to Vice President Dr. Bawumia when they met recently in Kumasi.

Dr. Gideon Boako, an aide to Vice President Bawumia and an expert in economic issues, said the proposals from the businessmen had been adopted.

According to him, Dr. Bawumia travelled to Kumasi to meet the businessmen in order to know their pressing problems and the possible remedies.

Dr. Boako said the businessmen, during the meeting, proposed six policies which they believe can help make their businesses grow.

Speaking to Hello Fm in Kumasi, the economic luminary stated that government has the interest of the businessmen at heart.

“During the meeting, the businessmen tabled six proposals, which they think can help their operations when introduced and government will do just that.”

According to him, businessmen in Accra also tabled the same proposals as their counterparts in Kumasi when they also met Dr. Bawumia.

Dr. Boako stated emphatically that government is clearly in control of the country’s economy despite the slight depreciation of the Cedi lately against major foreign currencies.

He pointed out that the local currency the Cedi appreciated by 0.2 percent during the first quarter of 2018 “but surprisingly nobody made noise about it.”

According to him, the government has the wherewithal to introduce new polices to help strengthen the cedi against foreign currencies.

Dr. Boako entreated Ghanaians to continue to keep faith with government, stressing that the Cedi would bounce back soon.
