Celebrity Prez Putter Ends On High Note

This year’s President’s Putter ended on a high note at the Celebrity Golf Club on Saturday.

Club President, Tang Hong, underscoring the importance of the well organised event stated, “… What today’s tournament has achieved the most are the promotion and the consolidation of the bond of friendship between Ghana and China.                                                                                                           “We are very fortunate to have so many of you who are willing to help, and to make Celebrity Golf Club the great club that we are all very proud to serve.”

He added, “My utmost dream is to see Celebrity Golf Club rank the best in Ghana and in the sub-region. The Ghana Chinese Golfers Association will support the development of the game to an international standard and would do its best to support professional golfers and to get the youth interested and involved in the game.”

Single handicapper, Joseph Koblah, recorded a 43 stable fort points to win the scratch event.

It was Eric Ofosuhene, who won the men’s Group A event with 39 stable ford points, while young Bernice Esi Dzitowko emerged tops in the ladies Group A category with 44 points.

 

Leticia Amponsah Mensah finished second with 35 points, while Mercy Werner won the third position with 33 points.

The closest to the pin (ladies) prize went to Jenny Le, while Tafo’s Alfred Kwame picked the men’s version.

It was Rosemary Orthner, who emerged tops in the ladies Group B with 42 points. Georgina Andoh (35 points) beat Li Ping Wang on count back.

 

Francis Torgah played eleven under over three days to emerge tops in the pros event, with the Best Junior Golfer prize going to Michael Nyarko.

 

Robert Degbe won the professionals Seniors. Charles Martey won the amateurs seniors division, while Malcom Watson finished second.

Martin Orthner left the Course with a special prize after recording 41 points.

Golfers who distinguished themselves received trophies, brand new Giti tires, batteries and coupons for a special treat at the plush Tang Palace Hotel.

The tournament, which drew over 200 golfers across the nation, was sponsored by Giti Tire, Global Trading PTE. Limited, manufacturers of GT Radial Tyres in China, represented by CAITEC Delta Limited in Ghana, MVD Medea (Air Condition agent), StarTimes, Ghana Chinese Golfers Association and Tang Palace Hotel and put together by Wonders Rising Stars Golf Academy.

Club captain David Renner commended Mr. Tang Hong for his immense contribution to the development of the Sakumono-based club.

The event was crowned with a presentation of a brand new tractor from the Ghana Chinese Golfers Association and the Tang Palace Hotel to the Celebrity Golf Club.
