QUEENDELA ADU-Poku, a Banking and Finance graduate of the Central University has demonstrated superior intellectual abilities and academic accomplishment with hat trick in academic awards.
The 18th Congregation of Central University held over the weekend turned out remarkable for the 23-year-old who graduated with a 3.98 Grade Point Average (GPA) in Banking and Finance, bagging home three awards and prizes.
She was adjudged, the Chancellor’s Award for being the Overall Best Student, Overall Best Female Student and Best Student in Banking and Finance.
For her prize, (Chancellor Award), a certificate, a Macbook plus $1,000; (Female Best Student), a certificate, cash prize of GH?2,600 from Dr. Joyce Aryee, the Pro Chancellor; (Best Banking and Finance student), certificate and sponsorship from Pricewaterhouse Cooper’s Ghana.
Queendela took the baton from Ewudziwa Elizabeth who also swept three awards last year with a 4.0 GPA.
In her valedictorian speech, she said she aspired to be at the forefront of reshaping regulatory compliance and risk management in Africa and around the world.
Touching on her past experience on the campus which came with mix feelings, she educed that “over the past four years (or more) on the Central University campus, we have had our shares of highs and lows that have helped shape us into the people we are today and I am no different.”
Queendela believes her success was a result of the life she lived and the choices she had made on campus.
“In 2016, I was appointed Class Representative, a role I initially avoided due to all the responsibilities it came with. However, it was a great start to becoming the leader I wish to be. In 2017, I started taking an active part in the Banking and Finance Students’ Association by joining the Finance Committee,” mentioning some of the achievements she chalked.
Her brilliancy and intellectual ability made her to represent the university in various competitions and won various awards including the New Business Challenge organized by the Embassy of the Netherlands in Ghana.
She represented the department at various quizzes geared towards developing amicable relationships with other Banking and Finance associations in other universities.
This year, she has also been accepted into the Bank of America’s Africa Summer Analyst Program as the first ever Ghanaian Compliance intern and the first Central University student on the program.
