The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, has commended the Ghana Hajj Board Chairman, Alhaji Tanko Abdul Rauf, for what he said is a successful operation this year.

In a statement, the Chief Imam stated that President John Mahama also deserved commendation for rendering the necessary support to the Board to deliver on their mandate.

He was quick to however ask the Board Chair not to allow perfectionist tendency to drag him into complacency.

He also congratulated the pilgrims on their successful performance of the Hajj and for its acceptance by Allah.

A successful Hajj, he went on, is a collective responsibility regardless of political affiliations.

“The Hajj in contemporary times, is no longer a mere exercise of spirituality. In fact, Hajj has also become a tool of bilateral relations and cultural diplomacy,” he said.

He charged Ghanaian pilgrims to conduct themselves as ambassadors of the country by being decent and diplomatic in their conduct.
