THE CHIEF of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, has donated GH?100,000 worth of personal protective equipment (PPE), toiletries and food items to two hospitals at Wiamoase in the Sekyere South District of the Ashanti Region.
The beneficiary health facilities are the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Hospital and the Salvation Army Hospital.
Among the donated items were 500 pieces of N95 respirators, 4,000 pieces of face masks, 500 pairs of hand gloves, 15 pieces of paper towels, 20 boxes of hand sanitizers, 15 boxes of washing soap, 100 boxes of medical soap and 25 pieces of Veronica buckets.
The Director for Special Projects at the Office of the Chief of Staff, Alexander Gyedu, made the presentation on behalf of Madam Osei-Opare.
He said the gesture was part of the commitment of the Chief of Staff in supporting the relief efforts of the government during this global health emergency at Wiamoase, her hometown, and other surrounding communities.
According to Mr. Gyedu, this is besides the Chief of Staff’s donation of 50 per cent of her three months salaries to support mitigating actions to contain the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
He conveyed Madam Osei-Opare’s admonishment to the people in the community to protect themselves against the viral disease, by adhering to the underlining protocols of social distancing, regular hand washing with soap, wearing of masks, among others.
The Chief of Wiamoase, Nana Boakye Yiadom I, on behalf of the hospitals and residents of the area, expressed gratitude to Madam Osei-Opare for the kind gesture in this trying moment.
He pledged his commitment to ensure that the items are put to good use to achieve their intended purpose as he encouraged residents to continuously observe the precautionary measures.
Major Stephen Boadu, the Administrator of Salvation Army Hospital, and Dr. Michael Adu, the Medical Director of the Seventh Day Adventist Hospital, also commended the Chief of Staff for her timeous intervention.
According to them, the items had come at an opportune time and said the donation would motivate staffs of both hospitals to give off their best in fighting the Covid-19 outbreak.
