A CHIEF in the Ashanti Region has rallied voters in his area to endorse the re-election bid of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on December 7.
Kontomere Kwame Frimpong Ababio, the chief of Atwima Yabi in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the region, said President Akufo-Addo had done ‘great’ works for Ghana and deserved to be given the necessary encouragement and support to do more.
The traditional leader implored Ghanaians not to treat President Akufo-Addo with ‘ingratitude’, considering his works since assuming office four years ago, but vote massively for him to retain the seat.
The chief said these when Kofi Amankwa-Manu, the parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the leadership of the party in the Atwima Constituency paid a courtesy call on him at his palace recently.
According to the traditional leader, it will be suicidal if Ghanaians fail to extend President Akufo-Addo’s mandate to the next four years for them to see major economic growth in the country, adding, “There is a saying that you don’t bring down someone who is moving forward to achieve great results; rather you push the person up. I am going to pray to our ancestors for Nana Addo to win this December 7, 2020 elections.”
The traditional leader continued, “God has already made him (Nana Addo) king in spirit and no man can change it since it is the will of God.”
He advised the parliamentary candidate to take advantage of the numerous policies done under the Akufo-Addo administration, such as the Free SHS, One District One Factory, One Village One Dam, Planting For Food and Jobs and NABCO, to win more votes, saying “sell the good policies that your party has implemented in its four years in office and what you would do in the next four years.”
The chief stated that even though chiefs do not do partisan politics, they have the right to commend any government that introduces good policies to help address the plight of the ordinary people.
The chief appealed for a senior high school to be established in his community, with a promise to allocate parcels of land should the government decide to grant his request.
The aspiring Member of Parliament, Kofi Amankwa-Manu, thanked the chief for his warm reception and promised that the constituency would see major developmental projects if he was elected.
The Atwima Kwanwoma Constituency is the second largest constituency in the Ashanti Region in the recent voter population compiled by the Electoral Commission.
