A NUMBER of corporate bodies have made donations to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) in support of this year’s National Farmers’ Day celebration.
Four corporate organisations – New Okaff Industries Ltd, Rainbow Agro Sciences, Yara and Wynca Sunshine – have made donations comprising agro-based products and various sums of money, cumulatively worth millions of Ghana cedis to the Ministry.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Ministry, Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture, Yaw Frimpong Addo, conveyed his appreciation to the donor agencies for coming to support the Ministry in celebrating and rewarding Ghana’s hardworking farmers.
He said in addition to the four companies that came to make donations, several others had called in to notify the Ministry of their intentions to support and that hopefully in the coming days, those would be done.
Touching on the date for the ceremony, he said while no official date had been set yet, the Ministry was considering observing the day in November and would communicate it once an appropriate date has been fixed.
He added that the Ministry, together with farmers, are currently engaged in “a lot of irrigation” to help combat the impact of climate change on Ghana’s agriculture sector.
