COSUA Rallies African Support For Morocco

Sarfo Abebrese

The Coalition of Supporters’ Unions of Africa (COSUA), has called on all Africans everywhere to pray for and support Morocco to win the FIFA World Cup trophy for Africa for the first time in the history of the continent.

In a press release signed by its Founder and President, Sarfo Abebrese, COSUA referred to Morocco’s exploits in reaching the semifinal stage of the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar as a “historically monumental feat by an African country that should make all Africans proud.”

“To do so without conceding a single goal from an opposing player, even after a penalty shoot-out, is another world record set before our very eyes by the African representatives,” the statement continued, pointing out that the only goal Morocco has conceded so far in the five matches played, was an own-goal, and that underlines the resilience of the African spirit as typified by Morocco.

The statement expressed the hope that Morocco’s World Cup triumph is going to help in no small way, to foster the much-needed unity between Morocco and the rest of Africa, a hope that was severely threatened by the Melila disaster in which about 50 African migrants lost their lives earlier this year, which led to calls for boycotts and even suspension of Morocco from the African Union.

“With this historic healing balm that the World Cup has provided, we at COSUA Global expect to see an unprecedented show of love and brotherliness of all Africans towards Morocco, especially as they prepare another bid to bring the FIFA World Cup back to Africa in 2030.

“The onus is now on Morocco to tap into this vast pool of goodwill from Africa, celebrate its success as an African success and play its part in the African Union’s unity efforts, as COSUA prepares to embark on a strenuous campaign to secure all the 55 African votes for Morocco to make the hosting of the FIFA World Cup in Morocco and Africa a reality,” the statement concluded.

In a related interview on DNT monitored by DAILY GUIDE SPORTS, Sarfo Abebrese is quoted as saying: “I have a free advise for Moroccan FA. There are three trophies to be won. The gold, silver and bronze.  We do pray for them to win the ultimate,  but even if they end up with the silver or the bronze medals, (or even 4th-place),  they should organise a ‘Thank you’ tour of all African countries first and foremost, to set the stage to garner all African votes for the 2030 World Cup bid. COSUA will be more than willing to assist in this exercise.”
