Ernesto Yeboah being carried shoulder high
Members of the Convention People’s Party’s (CPP’s) Youth League on Monday morning stormed the party headquarters in Accra to protest against the suspension of their National Youth Organiser, Ernesto Kofi Yeboah, and the General Secretary.
Numbering about thirty, they were clad in the party’s colours and yelled, ‘No Ernesto No CPP’, ‘how dare whoever to issue suspension notices,’ among other comments.
At the time DAILY GUIDE arrived at the CPP headquarters, the national youth organiser was seen seated in his office in a blue long sleeve shirt with some party officials, with a section of the press waiting to interview him.
Speaking to DAILY GUIDE, the embattled national youth organiser said he was not in any way perturbed by the speculations that he had been suspended. He said he was more than ready to discharge his duties to the party especially the youth.
He wondered why people engage in spreading untruths to cause embarrassment to the party.
“People who claim that the structures of the party must be respected must do same and those same apostles should ensure that their actions do not bring the party’s name into disrepute,” he remarked.
The Convention People’s Party on Friday announced the suspension of its General Secretary and National Youth Organiser in what appears to be a bizarre action taken by the party’s steering committee.
The two, Nii Armah Akomfrah and Ernesto Yeboah, were suspended for publicly condemning the President, John Dramani Mahama, for allegedly accepting a car gift (Ford Expedition) from a Burkinabe contractor, Djibril Kanazoe.
The decision to suspend the two is said to have been taken at the party’s Central Committee meeting last Thursday.
The Deputy General Secretary (Administration) of the Party, Yaw Asani Tanor, told DAILY GUIDE that even though the development would not have any consequences on the party’s fortunes in the 2016 general election, the issue could have been handled better.
