The Central Regional Assistant Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sarah Afful, on Saturday inaugurated the Cape Coast South Constituency branch of the Zongo Ladies for the party.
The association is made up of the youth in the four areas of Cape Coast dominated by Muslims known in local parlance as Zongo.
Ms. Afful, who is also the Central Regional Director of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), urged the members to work hard to ensure victory for the NPP’s parliamentary candidate for Cape Coast South, Ernest Arthur.
She said they needed to campaign vigorously for President Akufo-Addo and the NPP in the December general election.
The party, she explained, required the support of all members to win both the presidential and parliamentary votes in the Cape Coast South Constituency.
Besides, she donated GH¢300 to the association.
For his part, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Cape Coast South, Ernest Arthur, enumerated a number of projects executed by the current administration to improve the socio-economic situation in the metropolis.
H said some of the projects included the asphalting of the Cape Coast town roads, an increase in beneficiary schools under the School Feeding Programme from 14 to 67 schools, renovation of Jubilee Park, renovation of jubilee school, among others.
He indicated that the asphalting of the Cape Coast town roads was an initiative being financed by the NPP government.
He, therefore, debunked rumours that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) paid for the project before handing over power in 2017, adding “such a comment needs to be treated with the contempt it deserves.”
He appealed to all members of the NPP to embark on a house-to-house campaign and also observe all the Covid-19 protocols.
He later donated GH¢1,850 to the association.
In her remarks, the Cape Coast South Women’s Organizer, Caroline Ewusi, stated that the introduction of the Free SHS had helped Ghanaians who hitherto were not able to send their children to SHS due to financial constraints to do so without any difficulty.
She, therefore, appealed to Ghanaians, especially women, who constitute about 52 per cent of the population, to vote for NPP in the December elections.
In attendance were regional Nasara Coordinator Alhaji Buba and all constituency executives.
