D-Black, Fred Rhymz
Ghanaian businessman and CEO of Black Avenue Muzik, D-Black, has broken his silence after been accused of having a hand in the downfall of rap artiste Freda Rhymz.
According to the ‘Sheege’ hitmaker, he is not responsible for the downfall of the rap artiste since his label created a conducive environment for Freda to thrive in the industry.
In a post on X, the D-Black wrote, “This story talk am well. lol. MTN and Charterhouse brought her to our label at her request for a 1-year deal.
“We made sure she came with her team and gave them all splits, one guy called Blue who was the investor and another sound engineer / writer called ‘Hamra Boi’. They however fell out after 6 months over an internal dispute involving them 3 (sic).
“After a year, Black Avenue Muzik didn’t renew the deal as well. She went on to do her thing and sign with another label. Wishing everyone the very best.”
D-Black made this submission after he was accused by CJ Biggerman on X for luring Freda Rhymz into signing to his label.
In a post, CJ Biggerman wrote, “We wanted to create the biggest female rapper from Gh. After putting all the efforts into producing, directing coaching etc to win MTN Hitmaker. She ghosted us and signed to D-Black. I haven’t still recovered from that heart break.”
According to CJ Biggerman, he registered Rhymz for the MTN Hitmaker competition using his phone, coached her with his past contestant experience, and shaped her into Ghana’s top female rapper contender.
Freda Rhymz is a talented Ghanaian rapper and songwriter from Sunyani, known for her unique blend of Afrobeats, Hip-hop, Hiplife, and Highlife music.
Born Freda Baffour Awuah, she gained recognition after winning the sixth season of the MTN Hitmaker music reality show in 2017, becoming the first female winner.
Some of her popular songs include ‘Saucy’ featuring Sista Afia, ‘Sing My Song’, and ‘Point Of Correction’. She’s collaborated with notable artistes like Pappy Kojo, KelvynBoy, and D-Black. Freda Rhymz is also known for her energetic live performances and has shared stages with top artistes.
