THE GUKPE Naa, Abdulai Alhassan, acting on behalf of the Overlord of the Dagbon Traditional Area, has conferred a chieftaincy title on the C.E.O. of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr. Okoe-Boye, at a colourful durbar in Tamale over the weekend.

Dr. Okoe-Boye thus becomes the ‘Alaafe Bonzali Naa’ (Health Development Chief) of the Dagbon Traditional Area and will have the mandate to execute his duties as assigned by the Dagbon Traditional Council.

His role as Alaafe Bonzali Naa is to complement the efforts of the Overlord of Dagbon, Yaa-Naa Abubakari Mahama II, in promoting good health and environmental development across Dagbon.

The traditional elevation of Dr. Okoe-Boye is in recognition of his effort at making the NHIS better across the country for the benefit of the less-privileged in society.

Members of the NHIA board and some NHIA staff witnessed the enskinment ceremony at the Gukpegu Palace in the Tamale Metropolis.

The newly-enskinned Alaafe Bonzali Naa expressed delight that the Dagbon Traditional Authority had appreciated his efforts and promised to work harder to make the NHIS work better in all regions and districts.
