Diare Chief Is Northern Regional Best Farmer

THE CHIEF of Diare, Naa Abdulai Abubakari, 60, has been adjudged the Overall Best Farmer in the Northern Region.

This was made known at the 38th Regional and Metropolitan Farmers’ Day celebration themed “Accelerating Agricultural Development through value addition” held at Jarigu in Tamale.

Naa Abdulai Abubakari received a tricycle, a mist blower, a poly tank, 20 bags of Muriate of Potash, 2 knapsacks, 2 cutlasses, 2 pairs of Wellington boots and a certificate of recognition.

The Diare Chief is a seed grower, AMSEC owner, commercial farmer and cultivates 177 acres of rice, 222 acres of soyabeans and 115 acres of maize as well as supports 300 out growers for rice, soybeans and maize.

He also has 122 cattle, 75 goats, 54 sheep, 62 pigeons and 55 local fowls.

The Overall Northern Regional Best Farmer has also employed about 12 permanent and 25 casual workers.

Naa Abdulai Abubakari, in an interview with journalists, encouraged the youth to go into farming adding that it was a profitable venture.
