DJ Willie
Popular radio presenter, William Smith, also known on radio as DJ Willie, has joined Abeka Lapaz-based radio station, Angel 102.9 FM, owned by Angel Broadcasting Network (ABN).
Angel FM’s new asset, until his departure from Adom FM a few weeks ago, had been with the station for some years now. He is among the finest personnel Adom FM has lost in recent times.
BEATWAVES gathered that DJ Willie’s move to Angel FM was a natural step for him, as he was expected to put his rich radio experience to good use.
He believes radio is all about educating the masses and promoting our cultural values.
He says he is happy to be part of the promising team of ABN and hopes to use his vast experience to help promote the station’s vision and programmes.
Also known as the ‘Chinese Man’, DJ Willie told BEATWAVES that he was poised to brand Angel FM to make it the most listened to radio station in the capital.
DJ Willie is a personality full of ideas and innovations, which has attracted a myriad of listeners, who always tune in their dial to listen to him.
His first job with ABN will be to host the late afternoon show dubbed, Bumper To Bumper, on Angel FM, from Monday to Friday between 3pm to 5:30pm and on Sundays between 9am and 12 noon.
The show is a mixed-bag comical radio program that seeks to entertain, inform and educate listeners after a tedious day and usher them back home safely.
It promises to give listeners ground breaking interviews and facts.
DJ Willie will host the programme alongside Dickson Owusu, aka Papa Shamo, with Ben Duker as the producer.
The station is yet to also announce other programmes he will be hosting.
He has promised to give listeners the best show, adding that he will also introduce a number of segments on his programme.
According to him, the introduction of segments on his show is to change the trend of radio broadcasting in the capital and also to create a unique style to meet the demand of radio listeners in the Accra Metropolis.
Since his entry into radio, DJ Willie has won the hearts of myriads of radio listeners and has become a household name in the capital.
He made a lot of impact when he co-hosted Adom FM’s Efiada Mbosuo show with DJ Papa Bills, paving way for him to be counted among the best when it comes to musical talk shows on radio.
