Dr. Bawumia responding to cheers during the campaign tour
FORMER VICE President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has advised fellow aspirants in the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary to conduct decent campaigning.
He reminded them that the NPP’s political opponents, notably the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is closely monitoring and taking notes of the party’s internal election.
According to him, any foul comments that the NPP aspirants would use against one another, would eventually be used against the party by political opponents.
In this regard, Dr. Bawumia urged fellow flagbearer aspirants to preach about what they can do to help the NPP to win power and shun politics of insults and insinuations.
The former Vice President said he has embraced a decent campaign, devoid of insults and name calling because he believes that the NPP can only win the 2028 polls with unity.
Dr. Bawumia gave the advice on Friday, which was the last day of his three-day campaign tour of the Ashanti Region ahead of the NPP’s election on January 31, 2026.
Promises Unity Campaign
According to the former Vice President, if he wins the NPP’s presidential race, he would reach out to the other contestants so they can work together to recapture power.
Dr. Bawumia, who has been verbally attacked by some of the NPP presidential hopefuls so far, stated that he would put the happenings in the campaign behind and lead a united NPP.
“I will work with everybody because we are one elephant family with a common destiny. Leading a united party will help the NPP to recapture power in 2028,” he indicated.
He, however, warned the other contestants about the dangers of washing their dirty linen in public, reiterating that the party’s opponents are watching them and taking notes.
Winnable Candidate
Sounding confident, Dr. Bawumia categorically stated that he possesses special qualities that can help the NPP to recapture political power in 2028 and, therefore, should be supported.
“I’m appealing to the NPP delegates to cast their votes for me on January 31, 2026 because I’m the most prepared, formidable and winnable candidate,” he boldly remarked.
According to Dr. Bawumia, he has a proven track record of “innovative thinking and care for the ordinary Ghanaian”, adding that his splendid works as Vice President also speaks volumes for him.
