THE DORMAAHENE, Osagyefo Oseadeoyo  Agyeman Badu II, has praised the Akufo-Addo-led NPP government for introducing policies and programmes that are  going to improve the lives of Ghanaians, asking all and sundry to support the government irrespective of one’s political affiliation.

The Omanhene made the commendation when the Vice-President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, paid a courtesy call on him at his palace as part of a one-day tour of some parts of the Brong Ahafo Region to join his Muslim brothers and sisters to pray to Allah during this year’s Ramadan Fast.

In his welcome address, the Omanhene explained that the Free SHS Policy for instance is a good one since education is key to development. According to him, it has always been difficult for parents to pay their wards school fees but the policy has come to relieve them.

He said democracy is all about improving the lives of people so we must support whichever party comes to power to implement policies as it is being done by the NPP government. He commended the President for a good work done so far. He praised the several policies and programmes like ‘One District, One Factory’, ‘One Village, One Dam’, ‘Planting For Food and Jobs’, amongst others.

Nana Agyemang Badu also praised President Akufo-Addo for the bold decision he has taken against the galamsey menace in the country.

He encouraged the President to hold on to it to halt the canker finally. He pleaded with the government to bring the Multipurpose Youth Resource Sports began by the government to completion.

On his part, the Vice-President told the chief that he was in Dormaa to join his Muslim brothers and sisters in prayer during the Ramadan fast.  He explained the importance of Ramadan on the Muslim calendar in the Islamic religion; hence the need to go round the country to seek peace and blessings for the country. He assured the chief that government was on course to fulfill all its campaign promises.

Alhaji Bawumia also broke a 17-year-old problem for people of Berekum, by being the first Vice-President with a high powered government delegation to enter the Berekum palace due to litigation over who was the rightful person to occupy the throne. The chief lamented this has made Berekum lag behind in terms of development as compared to other traditional areas.

The chief of the town, Nana Dr. Diewuo Amankona, pleaded with the Vice-President to impress upon the road ministry to upgrade Berekum town roads to the status of other surrounding towns. The Vice-President pledged his willingness and so urged urban road to take up the responsibility. Dr. Bawumia also called on the Wenchi Traditional Council.
