I’m Not Anas Aremeyaw

Patrick Marcelino, a Dutch-Brazilian model, has reacted to one of the purported pictures of investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas making rounds on the internet since last week, saying he is the person in the picture and not Anas.

Patrick, who is upset about what he described as “identity theft”, has threatened to take legal action against the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong.

He has reasons to think Ken is behind the sharing of his photos and making people believe it is Anas.

“Listen, I’ve never been to Ghana. How? I’m not affiliated to no political party… right now my whole career is in danger. I’m about to make some big steps and these guys are just freaking around with my pictures.

“…and Kennedy, this will not be without any [repurcurtions], I will take the legal steps that will have to be taken to set this thing right,” Patrick Marcelino stated in a video which was widely circulated in Ghana’s social media space over the weekend.

Last week, Kennedy Agyapong threatened to unmask Anas Aremeyaw Anas, whom he described as “evil, corrupt, wicked, thief, and blackmailer.”

The MP is angry with Anas and his methods of investigation, hence he threatened to release photos of the investigative journalist who attends social events in a mask.

He went ahead to release photos of a man he claims to be Anas on NET 2 TV, to which an alleged tweet by TV personality Nana Aba Anamoah has somewhat confirmed is Anas.

Subsequently, more photos of the alleged Anas emerged on social media platforms, one of them being Patrick’s.

However, Ken has denied being the source of Patrick Marcelino’s pictures.

He told Accra-based Adom FM on Monday that Anas was the one who released Marcelino’s pictures to create a clutter and confuse the public as part of his efforts to conceal his true identity, which he (Kennedy Agyapong) had splashed on social media.

“I didn’t release that picture; it is Anas who released that picture. I released two of Anas’ pictures. In one, he was wearing a hat and in the other he had a beard. The picture I released of him in a hat was when he was negotiating with a state attorney to kill a case,” Mr Agyapong alleged.

The lawmaker has launched scathing attacks on Anas and has vowed to expose him as a corrupt journalist who takes bribe to kill stories and entraps his victims to tarnish their image.

The attacks began shortly after Anas announced he would premiere his latest undercover documentary, which he did with the BBC concerning corruption in Ghana’s football on June 6 at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
