Douglas Luxury Apartments, Ghana’s leading short-term rental company, has been honoured with the Best Short-Term Rental Airbnb award at the 16th edition of the Ghana Property Awards.
The award ceremony, held in Accra, saw over 15 companies in the housing sector recognised for their contributions to national development.
In an interview with journalists, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Douglas Luxury Apartments, Douglas Oppong dedicated the award to the hardworking staff who have consistently demonstrated their dedication and commitment to the company’s mission over the years.
He also took the opportunity to appeal to the Diaspora community to invest in Ghana’s housing sector.
“I lived in the UK but was able to convert my three-bedroom apartment in Ghana into seven apartments, and today I’m reaping the benefits. Because of that, I started investing in luxury apartments here in Ghana and that is what Douglas Luxury Apartments stands for,” he stated.
Mr. Oppong noted that his company has been recognised by clients for providing great customer experience to their local and international guests.
“Whenever they come to Ghana and stay in my apartments, they don’t see a difference between the facilities they’re used to and those we provide here,” he added.
Addressing the rising prices of Airbnb rentals in the country, Mr. Oppong explained that Airbnb pricing is influenced by seasonal demand. “During Christmas, for instance, the whole world comes to Ghana, making it a peak period for rentals,” he said.
“Yes, there is a significant increase in prices during this time, but that is simply a reflection of supply and demand. There are also periods where demand is low and prices adjust accordingly,” he added.
