FA Cup holders Dreams FC over the weekend inched closer to the semi-final stage after posting a 2-1 win over Stade Malien in Bamako.

It was John Antwi’s brace that ensured the first leg victory in a crucial come back in their CAF Confederations Cup quarter final clash on foreign soil.

Defender Yoro Diaby fetched the opener for the hosts few minutes after recess but experienced attacker Antwi levelled 12 minutes later.

Antwi doubled the visitors’ advantage five minutes later after the referee awarded the Ghanaian side a penalty following a VAR check.

The Dawu-based side returned to Ghana yesterday after the Bamako conquest.

Indications are that preparations for the second leg will begin soon as they eye a place in the semi-final of the competition in their first-ever continental competition.

Dreams reached the last eight after finishing top of Group B ahead of Nigeria’s Rivers United and Tunisian side Club Africain.
