Driver In Court For Transporting Wee In Ambulance

Sampson Azago, 25, a driver who was arrested in 2017 for allegedly transporting cannabis in an ambulance has been re-arrested and put before a Ho Circuit Court.

Azago, who jumped bail, was arrested with Derrick Eto, 24, on July 29, 2017 for allegedly conveying parcels of cannabis from Vakpo to Aflao in the ambulance.

They were granted bail by the court, presided over by Priscilla Dikro Ofori.

The Prosecutor Sergeant Godfred Bosompem told the court that on July 29, 2017 police officers of the Vakpo Police Command at around 0800 hours intercepted a Ford ambulance being driven by Azago from Kpando to Have with Eto on board upon a tip-off.

He said the police searched the vehicle and found 627 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

Sergeant Godfred Bosompem said the accused persons mentioned one Efo Yao, who resides at Aflao as the owner of the consignment in their caution statements.

He said during investigations, one Peter Amponsah, who is still at large, called the police station to make inquiry about the ambulance and was later arrested as an accomplice.

The prosecutor said the accused persons were granted bail by the court but they all jumped bail subsequently.

He said Azago was later arrested with a bench warrant.
