DWP Promotes Traditional Music And Dance

The leadership of DWP dance group has underscored the need for attitudinal change towards the cultural music and dance.

To this end, the group said people should be encouraged to promote cultural music and dance which hold the key to the development of the creative economy in every country.

Speaking at a cultural music and dance lessons organised to train people interested in cultural music and dance, the group which has performed on a number cultural music platforms, said there was the need for people to attach great importance to their culture which include music and dance as the bedrock of our development.

The group has embarked on an educational and performance training programme to educate the youth about culture, traditional music and dance for the past years with great success.

The group has showcased and celebrated unique diversities of the rich cultural heritage of their country and also promoted excellence and creativity in the arts to the outside world.

The leadership of the group advised musicians as well as cultural music and dance groups to let the import of their songs and dance reflect societal needs and aspirations of the people, adding that music is the food for the body and soul and must always rekindle the spirit while encouraging the body to strengthen itself to face the challenges of the world.

The leadership of DWP again, advised musicians and cultural music and dance groups to be humble and work to promote their country’s music and culture to the outside world while helping the society to get rid of some of the challenges facing the people.

The group stressed that it derives its technique and methodology from the movement’s characteristics, aesthetic qualities, philosophy of the African dance traditions and the enormous movement and rhythmic resources available in the various communities.
