Kwabena Boateng, Kwabena Owusu Aduomi
AFTER WEEKS of strenuous campaign by the various aspirants, the Ejisu Constituency by-election is set to take place today.
The unfortunate demise of former Ejisu Constituency Member of Parliament (MP), John Kumah, paved the way for today’s by-election.
In all, six candidates are taking part in the crunch election, which would be supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC) in the Ashanti Region under tight security.
Aspirants
The aspirants are Kwabena Boateng of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Esther Osei, Convention People’s Party (CPP), and Beatrice Boakye, Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG).
The rest are Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, independent candidate, Fredua Agyeman Joseph, independent candidate and Joseph Atakora, independent candidate.
Two-horse Race
Even though there are six contestants, political connoisseurs believe that the election is a two-horse race between NPP’s Kwabena Boateng and Owusu Aduomi.
According to reports being picked from the Ejisu Constituency, the NPP candidate is likely to win the election, but he would be given a tough challenge by Aduomi.
EC Ready
Meanwhile, the paper also gathered that the Electoral Commission (EC) officials in the Ashanti Region are ready and determined to successfully supervise the election.
According to media reports, the EC has assured that they would conduct the polls in a free and fair manner.
Tight Security
Also, the paper has learnt that the Ashanti Regional Police Command would send a team of security personnel to monitor the election to ensure incident-free polls.
