Ejuraman SHS Dining Hall Collapses On 40 Students

Some of the injured students receiving treatment

FORTY STUDENTS of the Ejuraman Anglican Senior High School (SHS) have suffered severe body injuries after a dining hall in the school collapsed on them.

Over hundred students were said to be at the dining hall, preparing to eat their dinner when suddenly a rainstorm ripped off the roofing sheet of the dining hall on Monday at 5pm.

Most of the students got trapped under the huge debris after the dangerous incident. Other students and teachers, however, worked tirelessly to rescue the trapped students.

Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) also rushed to the scene to offer their support and expertise.

According to officials of the GNFS, a total of 40 students sustained injuries and they were rushed to nearby medical centres for immediate healthcare treatment.

They said out of the 40 injured students, five of them sustained multi fractures, and they are now being treated by top medical professionals to help save their lives.

A student of the school, who survived the scary incident, said they were about to take their dinner when the roofing sheet of the dining hall was ripped off by a strong wind.

He noted that the roofing sheet trapped most of the students in the dining hall, and about 40 students got injured, adding, “Most of the students became unconscious.”
