Empress Gifty Grabs 2025 GMA US Artiste Of The Year

Empress Gifty

Gospel musician, Empress Gifty, stunned the music world last night when she beat industry heavyweights Black Sherif, King Promise, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Diana Hamilton, Joe Mettle, Fameye, KiDi, and King Paluta to clinch the Artiste of the Year award at the 2025 Ghana Music Awards (GMA) US.

The glittering ceremony, held on August 16, 2025, at ACX1 Studios in Atlantic City, celebrated the very best of Ghanaian music at home and abroad. The night featured electrifying performances from Empress Gifty herself, comedian OB Amponsah, Gyedu-Blay Ambolley, and Kofi Kinaata.

The event also paid emotional tributes to late Highlife legends Dada KD and Daddy Lumba, while veteran musician Gyedu-Blay Ambolley was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

But the climax of the night came when the most coveted category was announced. Amid fierce competition, the spotlight fell on Empress Gifty. Overcome with emotion, she mounted the stage hand-in-hand with her husband, politician Hopeson Adorye, and broke down in tears as she received the award.

In her acceptance speech, she dedicated the honour to her late mother, thanked God, the media, and extended heartfelt gratitude to Kuami Eugene for his contribution to her smash hit “Watch Me.”

Empress Gifty’s win has not only cemented her place as one of Ghana’s leading gospel acts but also marked a historic moment in the highly competitive world of Ghanaian music.
