Face Mask Mandatory At Abetifi

Isaac Agyapong distributing the face masks

ISAAC Agyapong, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Kwahu East Assembly in the Eastern Region, has declared that the wearing of face mask in public places in the district is mandatory as part of measures to stem the spread of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

The DCE made this known when he distributed over 4,000 face masks in the district to help protect the people from the disease.

The beneficiaries included market women, drivers, the police, assembly members, people living with disability and educational institutions, including the Abetifi Presbyterian University.

He distributed the masks to the drivers and ‘okada’ riders in collaboration with the Assembly COVID-19 Prevention Taskforce.

The Assembly had so far mounted six poly tanks to support the supply of free water at Abetifi, Pepease, Suminakese, Kotoso, and Miaso.

Besides, Mr. Agyapong donated over 500 personal protective equipment (PPE) to the District Health Directorate in the area.

They included 50 hairnets, 50 rubber aprons, 15 goggles, 50 gowns, 20 face masks, 50 pieces of Veronica buckets, 50 pieces of hand washing bowls, 50 gallons of hand sanitizers, 100 pieces of tissue papers, 10 pieces of reflectors and a host of others.

He underscored the relevance of wearing face masks, adhering to physical distancing protocols, frequent washing of hands with soap under running water, as well as disinfecting hands with alcohol-based sanitizers to curtail the spread of the disease.
