‘Fashion Designers Must Embrace AI Technology’

Eric Grundberry Aidoo

DIRECTOR of The Arts and Design School (TADs) Fashion Institute, Eric Grundberry Aidoo, has urged fashion designers to embrace Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to enhance their fashion works to meet global demands.

He said the revolutionary role of AI technology in the fashion world currently cannot be underestimated as it has enormous potential for improving fashion designs.

Grundberry Aidoo noted that AI designs are no longer just concepts; they’re being brought to life in stunning ways. “If you compare red carpet looks from just three years ago to today, it’s clear how much fashion has evolved,” he remarked. “Ghana is moving at lightning speed. We’re not just influencing West Africa; our impact is being felt globally. Emerging designers are reshaping narratives and setting new standards on the international stage,” he said.

In terms of AI education, Grundberry Aidoo said his institute is committed to preparing students for this new landscape. “AI is here to stay, and sustainability is a key initiative we’re embracing at our school,” he explained. “TAD’s Fashion Institute has revamped its curriculum to integrate online courses that focus on these modern approaches. We’re not resisting change; we’re embracing it and finding ways to enhance creativity in this digital age.”

“Designing has evolved significantly, and production processes are keeping pace,” he said. “As a school, we have implemented practical measures to prepare our students for this dynamic environment.”

This, he said, is to ensure that the next generation of fashion designers are equipped to thrive in an ever-changing industry. “We’re pushing for more integration of technology in design and research as it is important for us to adapt in today’s creative landscape,” he added.
