The First Lady in a handshake with the Ga Mantse at the function
The First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, last Monday unveiled the renovated Ga Traditional Council building in Accra.
Writing about the event, she stated, “On Monday, October 14, 2024, I had the honour to help unveil the renovated Ga Traditional Council Building, a state-of-the-art edifice which blends cultural heritage with modern design.”
The building hosts the Ga Traditional Council, the sacred institution which manages the affairs of the Ga state.
A couple of years ago, a request was put before her to consider supporting the renovation and modernisation of the structure and she obliged.
“For me, this was a call to duty. A call to be of service to my people. As a proud Ga woman, I am fulfilled to have been able to deliver this key project on my exit as First Lady of Ghana,” she wrote.
During the unveiling function, she introduced Mrs. Alma Naa Dzama Adade Prempeh, wife of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, to the Council and the entire Ga State.
She also expressed gratitude to the Council for their support “in my almost eight years as First Lady of Ghana.”
She described as an honour her enstoolment as Naa Awo Kpakpa Okaikor Olefeonii I.
