Freddie Blay Leads NPP To Pay Homage To Rawlings

National Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hon. Freddie Blay, has led his party to pay homage to the late former President Jerry John Rawlings.

Chairman Blay and a number of NPP executives including National Organizer of the party, Sammi Awuku, and MP for Bekwai, Joseph Osei-Wusu, paid their last respect to Mr Rawlings on Monday, January 25, 2021.

They filed past Mr Rawlings mortal remains at the Accra International Conference Centre earlier this afternoon.

Mr Rawlings body has been laid in State at the Conference Centre .

Leaders of political parties, traditional rulers, heads of security agencies, and staff of the office of the late President are filing past the body today.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, January 26, 2021, President Nana Akufo-Addo and his wife Rebecca; Vice President Bawumia and his wife Samira; members of the diplomatic community in Ghana, justices of the Supreme Court (past and present) will file past Mr Rawlings mortal remains.

Mr Rawlings who was born in 1947 died at age 73 on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra after a short illness.

He is to be buried on Wednesday, January 27, 2021. His final burial ceremony is to be held at the Independence Square in Accra.
