The Board of Trustees of the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) inaugurated a modern four-storey headquarters building on Monday, 23rd December 2024. The facility, located opposite the Trinity Theological Seminary at Mempasem, Legon, Accra, marks a significant milestone in the Fund’s operational history.
Construction of the building commenced in 2021 and was initially scheduled for completion within 24 months. However, unforeseen operational challenges delayed the project. The project consultants, Skrul Consult, acknowledged the delays and apologized to their client, explaining that the factors causing the delays were beyond their control.
“This is a partial handing over of the facility to GETFund for use, as the contractor, Avenue K, and its subcontractors work to fully complete the exterior works,” a representative from Skrul Consult stated during the brief ceremony, which was attended by GETFund staff and members of the Board of Trustees.
In his remarks, the GETFund Administrator, Dr. Richard Ampofo Boadu, commended the contractor for the high-quality work delivered, describing the building as befitting for a corporate entity of GETFund’s stature.
Since its establishment in 2000, GETFund has operated from a residential building in the Airport West Residential Area. Over the years, the Fund’s expanding personnel and growing operational activities necessitated a purpose-built office to enhance management and administrative efficiency in fulfilling its mandate.
The Board Chairman, Prof. Dominic Fobih, expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the successful completion of this enduring edifice. “This is indeed an iconic piece of architecture,” he added.
The new headquarters symbolizes GETFund’s commitment to its mission of supporting quality education in Ghana while ensuring efficiency and professionalism in its operations.
