GJA Holds Crunch Meeting

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) is set to hold an Emergency General Meeting (EGM) today, September 27, 2024, at the Ghana International Press Centre in Accra, starting at 11am.

This critical gathering has drawn members from across the regions, and its decisions will be binding on the Association.

The EGM possesses the same powers as the Annual General Meeting, the highest decision-making body of the GJA.

On the agenda are discussions of the General Secretary’s Annual Report for 2023, review of the audited accounts of the Association from 2022-2023 presented by the National Treasurer, and any other pressing business.

The meeting comes at a time when the GJA has been actively promoting press freedom and journalistic excellence in Ghana.

Recently, the Association hosted the 3rd African Media Convention, focusing on enhancing freedom, innovation, and environmental sustainability in the media landscape.

The GJA has also commemorated World Press Freedom Day, emphasizing the importance of freedom of expression and professional ethics.
As the umbrella organization representing Ghanaian journalists, the GJA plays a vital role in shaping the country’s media landscape. Its efforts to promote ethical journalism and protect journalists’ rights have been commendable.

The outcome of this EGM will likely have significant impact on the Association and the Ghanaian media industry as a whole.

The meeting is opened to all members in good standing, and their decisions will be crucial in determining the GJA’s future direction.
