GOC President Extols Minister

Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) President, Ben Nunoo Mensah, has highly praised Youth and Sports Minister, Mustapha Yussif, for visiting the national boxing side, Black Bombers.

 

On Saturday, the minister in the company of the GOC chief visited the  training camp of the national boxing team, who are preparing for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in Japan.

 

To Nunoo Mensah, the minister’s visit was a demonstration of good faith and goodwill and support for the youth and budding sports talents in the country.

 

He urged the sports chief to take his love for the sport a notch higher to know their problems and concerns.

 

The GOC President, who is an executive member of ANOCA, urged the sports fraternity to chart a new path with the new leadership in a positive way to win laurels for Ghana.

 

“I am indeed impressed with the minister’s visit today, he has demonstrated that he has keen interest in all the disciplines. He has been very supportive since assuming office, and l must commend him for that,” said the GOC President.

He added, “Besides his words of motivation to the boxers, he has given them a personal cash donation to the team. We are indeed grateful sir.

 

“Let’s start a new model that all disciplines will copy to achieve results for Ghana Sports.”

 

The GOC President later toured the Trust Sports Emporium in Accra with the minister.

 

Meanwhile, Sulemanu Tetteh, Samuel Takyi and Shakur Samed -the three boxers who have qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, have reiterated their quest to return from Japan with good results.

 

Ghana will compete in boxing, athletics, weightlifting, judo and swimming. Other disciplines are in the final qualification stages.
