Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Assembly (TNMA) under the leadership of Gilbert Ken Asmah with the support of Goldfields Foundation, Tarkwa Mine continues to vigorously pursue its decongestion agenda by improving the roads network in the Municipality’s capital.
“My administration is highly committed and very poised to ease congestion in Tarkwa; much priority has been given to the rehabilitation and improvement of road networks largely. With the unflinching support of Goldfields Ghana Foundation, we shall decongest Tarkwa by the closure of my eight years as MCE,” Mr. Asmah said.
Mr. Asmah made this observation during a joint handing over of the project site to the contractor to officially commence the construction of a 600 metre link road from the Tarkwa Post Office to the Nana Angu bypass to improve mobility between Tarkwa and Aboso, market circle and the University of Mines area.
The Tarkwa MCE hinted that the link road when completed would further ease vehicular and pedestrian movement in the Central Business District.
He further commended Management of Goldfields Ghana Limited (Tarkwa Mine) for their consistent and timely support towards the development in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality.
He assured the contractor and Goldfields Foundation of the necessary support from the Assembly for the successful completion of the six months project which is being funded by Goldfields foundation.
According to the MCE, other links roads have been completed and funds have been allocated for potential routes in the 2019 3rd quarter budget to be financed by the internally generated funds from the Assembly.
According to Mr. Asmah, his administration has constructed a double cell culvert to link Ahwetieso and Boama, a suburb of Tarkwa.
“We have also facilitated the construction and completion of the DVLA link road at star junction also assisted by Anglogold Ashanti Iduapriem,” he said.
He mentioned that TNMA was constructing a double cell culvert to link up Vision estate to Angola and its environs, a move he believes will ensure a free flow of traffic in the Municipal capital.
“Plans are far advanced for the construction of an access road to link Akoon junction and Cyanide via the Alimex Gas station and Maxam hills,” he added.
TNMA Urban Roads Engineer, Derrick Obeng, urged the community members to collaborate and cooperate with the contractor to ensure the successful execution of the project devoid of accidents.
