Gunmen Kill 8 at Zakoli

ABOUT EIGHT persons, believed to be of Fulani extraction, have been killed by unknown gunmen at Zakoli, a community near Yendi in the Northern Region.

DAILY GUIDE gathered that about two communities inhabited byFulanis have been burnt down completely as some motorbikes belonging to themhave been stolen.

Even though the cause of the attack is unknown, some people believe it is a retaliation of an earlier attack, in which a young man was attacked at Zagbang on the YendiZabzugu road, leading to his death.

The Northern Regional Crime Officer, Supt. Bernard Baba Ananga, who confirmed the incident to DAILY GUIDE, said eight persons were killed.

He indicated that police have been deployed to the community to protect lives and properties.

Supt Ananga, however, called on the public to volunteer information to assist the police to apprehend the perpetrators of the crime.

Alhassan Abdul-Aziz, a native of the community, who was befuddled by the incident, quizzed, “Why should you just come into the community shooting and killing people like fouls, this is bad and so they should be punished for what they have done?”

He called on the Northern Regional Police Command, as a matter of urgency,to ensure that the perpetrators are arrested and prosecuted for killing innocent people.

“We are appealing to the police; they shouldn’t leave any stone unturned in investigating this case,” he said.
