Gyakie Listed Among Top 10 Afrobeat Artistes In Africa

Fast rising female afrobeat artiste, Jackeline Acheampong, popularly known as Gyakie, has made it to the top ten most streamed female afrobeat artistes in Africa on the Pandora music chart.

Pandora is a subscription-based music streaming service owned by Sirius XM Holdings based in Oakland, California, in the United States, with a focus on recommendations based on the “Music Genome Project”, a means of classifying individual songs by musical traits.

Gyakie, who is noted for hit songs like ‘Forever’, ‘Joy & Happiness’ (Intro), ‘Whine’,Vacation’, and ‘The Journey’ among others, took the seventh position on the music chart with a total stream of 8.76k on Pandora.

Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage, took the first position with a total stream of 99.9k. Tiwa Savage began her music carrier at age 16 and has released albums such as ‘Once Upon A Time’, ‘R.E.D’, ‘All Over’, and ‘Can’t Let You Go’ among others.

She is a recipient of several accolades including Best Female MVCP Viewer’s Choice Awards 2021, African Artistes of the Year at the Sound City MVCP Awards 2020 among others.

Yemi Alade took the second position with 78.1k streams. On August 30, 2019, she released her fourth studio album titled ‘Woman of Steel’ produced by Effyzzie Music Group and Universal Music Africa. Musically, the 15 track album is an afrobeat record that incorporates elements of R&B and highlife songs.

‘Fargin’ hitmaker Teni took the third position with 22.4k streams. Teni released her debut single ‘Amen’ while signed to Shizzi’s Magic Fingers Records and started gaining prominence after releasing the hit singles ‘Case’, ‘Uyo Meyo’, ‘Askamaya’ which was ranked 15th on MTV Base’s year-end list of the Top 20 Hottest Naija Tracks of 2018.

Nigerian afrobeat artiste, Simi, occupied the fourth position with 20.4k. She started her career as a gospel singer, releasing her debut studio album in 2008, titled ‘Ogaju’. She currently has hit songs including ‘Joromi’, ‘Duduke’, and ‘Smile For Me’ among others.

Fast-rising Nigerian singer, Tems, occupied the fifth position with 11.9k streams. Tems rose to prominence after releasing her hit track titled ‘Mr. Rebel’ and ‘Try Me’.

The ‘Mr. Rebel’ song was off her debut album, ‘Illumination’, garnering millions of streams across top music platforms.

Nigerian singer, Niniola, occupied the sixth position after garnering 11.4k streams. She has released hit songs including ‘Night and Day’, ‘Innocent’, and ‘Addicted’ among others.

Ghanaian-American singer, Amaarae, took the eighth position with 5.63k streams. She released her debut six track EP, ‘Passionfruit Summers’ in 2017. The album features the standout song, ‘Fluid’, which was complemented by a critically acclaimed music video.

Seyi Shay took the ninth position with 4.42k streams while DJ Cuppy took the tenth position on Pandora’s most streamed female afrobeat act in Africa.
