‘I Deserve VGMA Songwriter Of The Year’

Fameye

Ghanaian musician and songwriter, Fameye, is confident that his unique style and soulful lyrics could earn him this year’s Songwriter of the Year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).

Speaking to hosts of New Day on TV3, the ‘Praise’ singer said he believes that his music touches the hearts of listeners and helps them relate and connect with one another.

“I should take the songwriter award every year because when I release my music, I want it to touch the hearts of people and connect with them,” he opined.

Born Peter Famiyeh Bozah, the musician from Bogoso was resolute in his songwriting abilities as the award will be recognition of his hard work and talent.

“Everyone knows that if it comes to the lyrics… but I am not being a braggart. The award is not actually giving me the validation that I’m good… The award is giving me some bragging rights because I know I put in the work and I deserve to win.”

Fameye, 28, who broke Kofi Kinaata’s undefeated streak as the Songwriter of the Year in 2022, is hoping to maintain the status quo.

He, however, questioned Kinaata’s absence from the category and went ahead to eulogise him before applauding all the nominees.

This year’s nominees include Piese Esther with ‘Way3 Mi Yie’, Black Sherif’s ‘OH Paradise’, ‘Hewale Lala’ by Perez Music, Diana Hamilton’s ‘My Meditation’ and ‘This Far’ by Ewura Abena.
