Lord Paper
Musician, Lord Paper, has revealed that he needs at least $5 million to properly relaunch his music career and compete on the international music scene.
Speaking to Nana Romeo on Okay FM, the musician said the music industry has become highly competitive, with artistes from different countries competing for the same audience.
According to Lord Paper, releasing quality music alone is no longer enough, as artistes must invest heavily in promotion to reach a wider audience.
“I need at least $5 million to properly launch my music career and do some projects,” he said.
He explained that an artiste targeting only the Ghanaian market could operate with a smaller budget, but those seeking to compete with global stars such as Nigerian singer Rema would require significantly more investment.
“If you want to box yourself to just Ghana, then the budget will be smaller, but if you’re looking at catching up with Rema and co, you need to have a bigger budget,” he stated.
Lord Paper also identified promotion as a major factor in determining the success of a song, noting that music must be pushed to the right audience to gain traction.
Reflecting on his own career, he admitted that he has not done enough promotion, which he believes has contributed to the slow progress of his music.
“I feel like I don’t do enough promotion as a musician, that’s why things are a bit slow for me,” he said.
