Music legend, Daddy Lumba, says he is humbled by the generous gesture shown to him by British artiste of Ghanaian descent, Stormzy, during his performance at the Global Citizen Festival.
The Global Citizen Festival is the world’s longest-running global campaign calling for an end to extreme poverty.
The festival was held simultaneously in Accra on Saturday at Black Star Square and in the USA.
Stormzy, who was one of the international acts on the show, appeared on stage wearing a shirt with Daddy Lumba’s pictures boldly printed on it.
The gesture attracted a lot of applause from Ghanaians who praised his decision to introduce the music legend to his audience as well as bringing rappers Yaw Tog and Kwesi Arthur to join him perform.
Lumba, who was shocked by Stormzy’s gesture, took to social media to show gratitude.
In a Facebook post, he wrote, “I was immensely touched by Stormzy’s homage to me last night at the Global Citizen Festival.”
“I would like to take this opportunity to share my gratitude and appreciation for the public display of love. To say that the gesture was heartwarming and humbling is an understatement. Thank you very much,” he added.
