I’m Not Moving To GRA – Ex-GMA Boss

Kwame Owusu

FORMER DIRECTOR General of the Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA), Kwame Owusu has told DGN Online that claims that he is moving to Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) as its Board Chairman should be treated as mere speculation.

According to him, he is rather enjoying his retirement and has not been told that he is take up any job at GRA.

Mr. Owusu was speaking to DGN Online on the sidelines on the Information Ministry Meet the Press Series with Transport Minister, Kwaku Ofori-Asiamah on Tuesday, February 19, 2019.

The Day Break newspaper had reported on February 19 that Mr. Owusu had taken over from Harry Owusu as GRA Board Chairman.

But Mr. Owusu told DGN Online, “I am a retiree enjoying my life,” urging that the news should be treated as mere rumor.

He shared laughter with Deputy Transport Minister, Titus Glover, and a few other colleagues as he spoke about his retirement.

Minister of Transport, Kwaku Ofori-Asiamah told journalists earlier that Mr. Owusu resigned at age 65 and has since submitted his resignation letter to the President.

Mr. Owusu came under the spotlight in October 2018, when it emerged that the Maritime Authority had used Ghc 140k on food and drinks for its end of year party.

There were calls for him to resign or to be sacked.

But the Minister told journalists Mr. Owusu had “graciously” retired and submitted his resignation letter to President Akufo-Addo, thanking him for giving him the opportunity to serve Ghana.
