Ded Buddy
R&B artiste Eric Turkson, popularly known as Ded Buddy or Qweci, with a number of songs to his credit, has revealed that he is the King of R&B music in Ghana.
The singer and songwriter, who established his presence in the music industry with hit songs like ‘Yebesa’ and ‘Asabone’, mentioned that he started that genre in Ghana before anyone else did.
He added that he was the first to introduce R&B fused with Highlife in his music in the 90s when most of his colleagues at the time were doing rap music.
Speaking in an interview on GTV’s Breakfast Show, Ded Buddy, who was named best Akan R&B singer by music stakeholders some years back when he translated Boys2men, ‘I’ll Make Love To You’ into Akan, said, “I am the King of R&B and I need that respect to be put out there.”
He revealed that his upcoming EP album titled ‘Adansi’ is ready and will be released soon.
He, however, expressed his love for the new crop of artistes and acknowledged KiDi for making exploits on the foundations he built.
