ION Motors Enters Ghanaian Market

Grenadier 4X4 on display

 

Japan Motors Trading Company Limited (JMTC), a retail partner for INEOS Grenadier has launched its ION Motors Grenadier operations in Ghana following the inauguration of it showroom at the Silver Star Tower, Accra.

It also outdoored its new vehicle, The Grenadier 4×4 made of British designs and German engineering and built for Africa with a powerful BMW engine and 8-speed gearbox with Recaro seats and a contemporary high-quality interior.

Speaking at the launch, the Regional Manager-Africa, INEOS Automotive Ltd, Gilles Masier, indicated that the CEO of INEOS, Jim Ratcliffe, manufactured the Grenadier 4×4 out of his passion for free time riding off-road with motorbikes and driving 4×4s in remote areas around the globe, especially in Africa.

“And over the years he realized that while automated manufacturers launch many SUV models there are very few pure 4×4 that he can take on a safari or over landing journey so he decided to make his own 4×4 Grenadier,” he said.

Gilles Masier further indicated that the vehicle’s manufacturing was in partnership with the best suppliers of the industry including Magna Steyr, BMW, ZF, Carraro, and Tremech, and also acquired a manufacturing facility from Mercedes Benz, located in the French/German.

He added that the INEOS Groups have invested over 1.5 billion, saying,” We are here for the long run. We are developing several other products including a Double Cab Pick-Up which will be coming to Ghana next quarter and an electric 4×4 which will go into production in 2026”.

The Group Executive Director of Japan Motors, Nouhad Kalmoni indicated that since announcing their partnership with INEOS Groups under the name ION Motors, they are excited to first introduce the Grenadier in West Africa.

“INEOS Grenadier is not just any vehicle but a symbol of durability, innovation, and excellence that embodies the spirit of adventure and uncompromising performance that exceeds and surpasses expectations” he underscored.

UK-Ghana Trade Envoy, Baroness Kate Hoey said the two nations have over the years had successful trading relations, emphasizing on the fact that, “ We want to see more and more exports from Ghana to the United Kingdom and more imports from the United Kingdom to Ghana. This is a great day to witness the launch of the first INEOS Grenadier from UK to Ghana”.
