Black Sherif
Musician, Black Sherif, has expressed confidence that he could become the first artist in Ghana to win the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) Artiste of the Year title three times.
Speaking in an interview with Cookie Tee on TV3 on Monday, the musician said his determination and work ethic remain unchanged despite his latest success at the just-ended TGMAs.
Black Sherif on Saturday secured his second Artiste of the Year award, joining a select group of Ghanaian music stars who have won the prestigious title twice.
Asked whether he believes a third win is achievable, the “Iron Boy” hitmaker responded confidently.
“It’s possible, most definitely possible. Because I’m still working, I’m back to work. We won the award Sunday morning, went back to work Monday, and we are still working. It’s a hundred per cent possible,” he said.
According to him, there is little time to celebrate achievements as he remains focused on improving his craft and maintaining consistency in the music industry.
The discussion followed comments by Cookie Tee, who noted that no Ghanaian artist has won the Artiste of the Year award three times since the inception of the awards scheme.
She pointed out that Black Sherif has now joined Ghanaian music heavyweights including VVIP, Sarkodie and Stonebwoy as multiple winners of the top award.
Before Black Sherif’s latest triumph, VVIP, Sarkodie and Stonebwoy were the only acts to have won the Artiste of the Year title twice at the TGMAs.
