The late J.B. Danquah, and the suspected killers
It appears the pathologist who conducted the autopsy on the slain New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Abuakwa North in the Eastern Region, JB Danquah Adu, is not in a hurry to release the report to enable the police conclude their investigations.
Dr. Lawrence Edusei, a pathologist at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, has over the past weeks been playing hide-and-seek with an Accra Central District Court which had ordered him to submit the full autopsy report to the police.
It has been almost a month when the court summoned him to release the report but the pathologist has not complied with the court’s order.
He has also not appeared before the court to explain the circumstances causing the delays in the release of the report.
At the last adjourned date, the prosecution, led by DSP George Amega, told the court that the summon was served on the doctor and was received by an administrative clerk at the pathology department of the hospital.
He said he could however, not tell whether or not the doctor had personally received it.
Based on that, the presiding judge, Arit Nsemoh, ordered the court’s registry to prepare another summon to be served on the pathologist personally to release the report or come and explain to the court what was causing the delay.
Incensed by the latest development, Magistrate Nsemoh ordered the case investigator and the court’s bailiff to personally take the summons to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and ensure that it is served on the pathologist and no other person.
She adjourned the case to December 14, 2017.
Two suspects, Daniel Asiedu, 19, aka Sexy Don Don – a phone dealer and Vincent Bosso aka Junior Agogo, a phone repairer – are before the court for allegedly murdering Mr JB Danquah Adu.
The presiding magistrate has indicated that the police were done with the investigations and had submitted their report to the Attorney General and were waiting for advice.
The case is still at committal stage awaiting the AG’s advice and the autopsy report, which is yet to be submitted, would play a huge role in determining the fate of the two suspects.
