THE JOSHOB Construction Company, an indigenous road contractor, has donated assorted food items to the prisons, homeless and orphan children’s homes in the Ashanti Region.

The donation is to assist the orphanages and the prison services to ensure that inmates and children under their care have the chance to grow up in a family-like way without the feeling of being parentless.

Among the items were tubers of yam, bags of rice and cooking oil meant for the consumption of the inmates and vulnerable children.

The beneficiary homes were Peace and Love Foundation at Offinso Amuowi, Offin Children’s Home at Offinso, Ashan Children’s Home at Denase in the Afigya-Kwabre District, Mampong Babies at Mampong, Garden City Special School at Aboabo, Abdullam Orphanage Home at Obuasi and King Jesus Care at Kotei .

The Kumasi Central Prison, Manhyia Prison Centre and Amanfrom and Adansi-Ahensan Prison Camps also received their fair share of the gift items.

The Public Relation Officer (PRO), Asante Krobea, who led a team of the company to present the gift items to the beneficiary institutions, said the donation followed a cash donation of US$100,000 to the Covid-19 National Trust Fund.

According to him, the donation was meant to support efforts of government aimed at stopping the spread of the novel Coronavirus in the country.

He indicated that the latest kind gesture formed part of the company’s corporate social responsibilities to make life comfortable for the underprivileged people in society.

The Ashanti Regional Commander of Prisons, DDP Owusu Amponsah, who was elated by the donation, praised the company for its benevolent gesture.

He indicated that the donation was the biggest one to have been received by the command in recent time, and called on other companies to emulate the gesture of Joshob Construction Company.
