FOR THE second time in less than a month, the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi, has received support from the Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong.

The lawmaker, who is noted for his benevolence in the country, on Monday donated 100 brand new and modern hospital beds and mattresses, valued at GH¢365,000.00 to the Oncology Department of the hospital.

A few weeks ago, Kennedy Agyapong also donated an amount of US$147,000.00 to the same hospital to help defray the cost of a year’s planned preventive maintenance of the linac machine to boost healthcare delivery.

Speaking during Monday’s presentation in Kumasi, Mr. Agyapong, who would be contesting for the NPP presidential candidate position, stated that quality healthcare delivery across the country was very dear to his heart.

According to the Assin Central lawmaker, his recent donations to health institutions in the country, including KATH in Kumasi, was geared towards fulfilling his dream of ensuring modern and standard healthcare delivery in the country.

He said his current donation would not be a nine-day wonder, and pledged his determination and readiness to continue to offer a helping hand to other health institutions in the country to deliver.

Chief Executive Officer of KATH, Prof. Otchere Addai Mensah, who received the donation on behalf of the hospital, expressed gratitude to Mr. Agyapong for his support to KATH and society in general.

According to him, the two significant donations from Kennedy Agyapong to KATH would go a long way to help alleviate the problems facing the hospital and also put KATH in the right position to deliver on its core mandate.
